The whale shark here glides on a slight diagonal through the resin, spotted flank turned toward the viewer, with the water around it graded from pale near the top of the block to a dark deep sea blue at the bottom. Light enters from the wooden base and rises through that gradient, so the shark's underside catches the glow while its back stays in shadow and the spots read clearly. The combination of high quality epoxy resin and wood keeps the piece solid and gives it a warm edge against all that cold blue. Two axes shape the order. Size is either 16cm or 20cm, the larger being a proper centrepiece rather than a bedside piece. The Sole design axis chooses between a Low sole and a High sole, meaning a shorter base that sits close to the surface or a taller one that lifts the scene up.
