Red Maple Samurai Resin Diorama, Japanese Bonsai Layered Acrylic Art Sculpture, Autumn Tree Zen Desk Night Light

Layer by layer, this diorama builds a lone samurai standing under a red maple bonsai. Printed acrylic sheets are stacked with high-clarity resin between them, so the foreground branches, the figure and the back of the scene each sit on their own plane. Move your head and the layers slide against one another, and the autumn leaves appear to hang in front of the samurai rather than beside him. The resin at every join bonds the stack and refracts light, which is what gives the block its glassy edge-glow and the clean look of the ribbed sides. Three sizes are listed: M at 7.5 by 11 cm, L at 10 by 15 cm, and XL at 14 by 20 cm. The larger versions spread the layers further apart, so the depth effect is stronger and the leaf detail is easier to read from across a desk. Each block is cut, aligned and poured by hand, so the spacing between layers and the polish of the faces vary slightly. On a minimalist desk or a zen shelf it works as a weighty transparent sculpture by day, and as a quiet lit panel when a light sits behind it.
