A wave curls over at the top of this piece, crest edge pulled thin and clear, and underneath it the water is populated: a surfer dropping down the face, a whale shark cruising through the deeper layers, and jellyfish drifting with their tendrils caught in the resin. Reef texture runs along the floor of the scene, which is poured onto a solid wood base with its own grain showing through. The epoxy is clear where the wave breaks and progressively deeper in tone toward the bottom, so the LED pushing up from the base lights the crest almost white while leaving the whale shark as a shadow in blue water. The motion in the sculpture is what sells it — the wave looks like it is still falling. The Size Model axis gives two choices: the 8 inch model and the 10 inch model. Both carry the same elements, with the larger one giving the wave more height and more separation between the surfer and the marine life below. Materials are epoxy resin and natural solid wood, with soft ambient LED lighting built into the base. Because every lamp is poured and hand-finished, the shape of the crest, the clarity of the water, and the grain pattern of the base are unique to each one.
