Art the Clown looms out of a block of epoxy resin, the painted grin and black-and-white costume modeled in detail and lit from the wooden base so the figure throws its own shadow across the resin. It is built as a desk diorama for horror fans, equally at home in a gothic room setup year-round or on a mantel through the Halloween season. Four sizes are listed: M at 5.4 x 3 inches, L at 6.2 x 3.3, XL at 7 x 3.7 and XXL at 7.8 x 4.1, each measured with the wooden base and within about 0.2 inch. Only the scale changes between them, so the choice is really about how much presence the clown has on the shelf; close-up photos can make the smaller sizes look bigger than they are. The lamp runs on USB with the cable included and has no internal battery, so it needs to stay plugged in. A remote switches between 16 lighting modes and colors and takes a CR2025 or CR2032 cell, not supplied. Natural wood grain, resin swirls, small bubbles and faint cloudiness all vary from piece to piece.
