A giant octopus fills the lower half of this diorama, arms curling outward through blue-green resin while a pair of divers float above it in the open water, small enough that the scale of the animal lands immediately. The pour is deepest in colour behind the octopus and clearest at the front, so the divers read as nearer to you and the creature as further down in the dark. Light rising from the wooden base passes through the tinted layers and picks out the suckers along the arms, leaving the surrounding water as a soft wash of colour. Size is the single axis and covers three options: Size M at 6 x 4.6 inches, Size L at 7.8 x 6 inches, and Size XL at 8.6 x 7 inches. Note that only the XL comes with a remote control. The scene can also be reworked with other sea life in place of or alongside the octopus, including a whale, whale shark, sea turtle, ray, jellyfish or a second diver. Each lamp is handmade and none is an exact copy, so the arrangement of the wooden shade pieces and the figures will differ from the photographs. Allow about 0.5 inch of variation in size and shape.
