Crouched low and reaching, Gollum is caught at the moment he fixes on the One Ring, spine arched, fingers splayed, the ring itself set into the epoxy just beyond his grasp. The resin around the pair is left clear so you can read the gaunt sculpt from any side, and the wood that forms the base and crown of the block gives the scene the look of a cave mouth. Lit from underneath, the ring is the first thing to catch colour and Gollum stays in half shadow, which is how the scene should look. Size is the only decision, given in centimetres: 15 x 10 cm for a desk, 20 x 12.5 cm as a middle option, and 25 x 15 cm for a shelf or bookcase display. The lighting is multi-colour, so the cave glow can be set anywhere from gold to cold blue. Epoxy resin and wood make up the whole piece and each one is poured, carved and assembled individually, which means two lamps are never identical. To keep it looking its best, keep the block out of long direct sunlight, since prolonged exposure can dull the resin surface, and dust it with a soft cloth.
