The dark helmet turns outward with a lit saber held low across the body, and the red of the blade is the brightest thing in the resin once the LED is on. Getting there takes a long route: the shape is sketched, molded and 3D printed, washed and UV cured, then base coated and layered in color down to details as fine as 0.1 mm before the resin goes in. The filled mold is pressed in a high-pressure chamber to drive out air bubbles, then trimmed and taken through ten to twelve rounds of grinding and polishing until the face of the block is mirror clear. Size is the single axis and all three are quoted in centimeters: S at 12 x 6.5 cm for a shelf or nightstand, M at 14 x 7.5 cm, and XL at 16 x 9 cm when you want the diorama to carry a desk on its own. Wood and epoxy resin form the piece, and every lamp is inspected individually before it leaves the bench. Hand work means the paint detailing and the clarity of each pour differ slightly from one lamp to the next.
