The sea in this lamp is built in layers. Blue-green epoxy is poured in stages to give the water real depth, and the ocean life is suspended at different heights inside it so a humpback whale, a sea turtle and a manta ray seem to pass each other at their own level, with a tiny diver for scale. Light comes up through the wood base and refracts through the resin, which makes the water pale near the top and darker toward the bottom, much like a real dive. Size is the choice here, measured width by height: Size M at 6 x 4.6 inches, Size L at 7.8 x 6 inches, and Size XL at 8.6 x 7 inches. A remote for the lighting is included with the XL size. Scenes can be composed around whales and whale sharks, divers, sea turtles, rays or jellyfish, so the arrangement of creatures varies between pieces. Everything is made by hand, the wooden shading never repeats exactly, screens render the blues differently, and about 0.5 inch of variation in shape and size is normal.
